Qualifications and experience required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Civil Engineering or Waste Management.
• Registration with a professional body will be an added advantage.
• Computer literacy.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence.
• Five to seven years’ relevant experience in a municipal or public service legal environment.

Job purpose:

• Managing the key performance areas and outcomes of the Contracts, Planning and Development Section of the Waste Management Branch of the Environmental Services Directorate associated with the formulation of a strategic plan and strategies., development of new technologies and methodologies, planning and monitoring work study projects, administration of contracts and training emerging contractors, management and application of the  Geographical Information System for the Directorate, the provision of a transport service to the Waste Management Branch, rendering project management services for local as well as international cooperation projects and performing administrative and supervisory functions including the development and sourcing of appropriate training.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
