    Manager: TV Graphics & Playout - Auckland Park

    PURPOSE:

    •  This position is required to ensure efficient and effective management and utilization of resources, people and operations of TV Graphics, in order to timeously deliver a high quality graphic animation and elements for broadcasting, and deliver on client needs and requirements.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGY

    • Implementation of strategical needs to enhance and promote technology infrastructures and customer user requirements and specifications
    • Formulation of user requirements and specifications, business case/s to address the functional requirements to sustain infrastructures, address customer and operational needs and develop new facilities
    • Accurate monthly and quarterly reporting on achievement of business objectives.

    BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

    • Complete budget as per required format & guidelines
    • Investigate & explain budget variances on monthly basis
    • Control operational expenses within approved budgets
    • Meet required KPA % of agreed targets
    • Achieve above average rating on SLA
    • Confirm that products, processes, practices & equipment in line with SABC technical & operational broadcast standards
    • Achieve agreed % of utilization of Human resources and Facilities
    • Provide effective, 360° communication, in order to ensure an informed staff complement including monthly one-on-one sessions
    • Monitor submission of fault reports to customers as per Company standard
    • Report monthly on deliverables, non-conformance & flagging of potential risks
    • Manage completion of project on-time and within constraints
    • Project handover & commissioning in accordance with Company standards
    • Liaise with Technology Manager, to ensure timeous maintenance and repairs of equipment, resolving any technical faults and the acquisition of new equipment
    • Monitor product delivery compliance in according with EBU standards & 5-point grading scale and television Graphics standards (High Definition)
    • Address section facilities functional & shortfalls
    • Continually monitor and assess technical equipment and facility performance, in order to ensure optimal delivery of services
    • Monitor and adopt workflow efficiencies & processes changes

    GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE

    • Develop and review the departmental Business Continuity plans
    • Management of fix asset and disposal of assets in accordance with Company Procedure
    • Manage compliance to OHS safety requirements and SABC Company Policies and Procedures
    • Resolve and implement internal /external audit recommendations
    • Compile and review departmental SOP’s & Workflows annually
    • Develop and update/input TV Graphics Risk Management Plan and mitigation
    • Ensure adherence of Project Management and Capex Manual execution
    • Evaluate effective and efficient reporting of project deliverables in accordance with time, budget, quality and client specifications
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant SABC policies and procedures
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant SABC Internal Controls

    STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT

    • Identify stakeholders that the SABC need to forge relationships with and submit to direct line report when required.
    • Hold three quarterly meetings with clients and monthly meeting with direct reports to enhance trust and credibility through collaboration and partnership
    • Agreed % of rating on SLA

     

    LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

    • Comply with performance management and contract with direct reports before the deadline according to policies and procedures
    • Formal reviews conducted per employee and documented by Quarterly
    • Provide individual coaching, counselling and mentoring conducted on an ongoing basis to meet individual needs
    • Improve  measured productivity as per set/agreed target

    INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Diploma in Digital Design/Graphics Design (Minimum NQF L6)

    EXPERIENCE

    • At least 4 years relevant experience within broadcast environment of which 2 year in supervisory capacity
