Duties :
The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of all medical patients including but not restricted to outpatients, accident and emergency, general medicine inpatients, resuscitations, adult high care, Intensive care as well as consults from other disciplines. Participate in multidisciplinary team for the management of patients. Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care.
Reduce medical litigations by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to Ideal hospital realization framework (norms and standards). Attendance of relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meetings and completing Medico-Legal Documents timeously (e.g. Death certificate).
Participation in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds. Ensure that administration and record keeping is done. Rendering of after-hours (night, weekend, and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. The MO will inter alia be responsible for rendering of clinical services, assessment and treatment of patients. Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, community service doctors, clinical associates and other health care workers).
