Job Description

• This role is accountable for execution, governance and compliance at an operational level. In this role you will be accountable for achieving results through the efforts of others.

Accounting Records

• Ensures that the financial accounting transactions are accurately reflected in the business unit ledgers.

Financial Control

• Creates a healthy internal control environment to ensure integrity of financial information.
• Effects ongoing changes to internal controls as necessitated by changes in business and corporate governance.
• Monitors and reports on status of all control accounts in the business unit.

Financial Reporting

• Prepares monthly financial reports for management, including a high-level variance report by agreed deadline.
• Produces ongoing and ad-hoc reporting based on requirements from business units, central finance and other mutual stakeholders.
• Drives and collates monthly submission consisting of report and commentary by agreed deadline.
• Manages reporting requirements for the business unit.

Governance & Compliance

• Accountable for governance and compliance at an operational level.
• Ensures the effectiveness and appropriateness of the accounting processes utilised to fulfill the needs of the business.
• Provides advice on accounting policy and practice to senior and middle management.

Team Effectiveness

• Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
• Creates a climate for optimal performance.
• Manages performance, plans and assigns work.

Technical requirements

• Able to work with large data (Microsoft Access and Excel)
• Project management for internal BAU initiatives
• Deadline driven

• Ability to work across multiple functions to ensure deliverables are met
• Strong Analytical skills

 Statutory reporting:

• Responsible for the preparation of the annual financial statements.
• Manage the external audit process and ensure sign-off of the annual financial statements within agreed.
• Prepare reporting submissions (HFM and offline) on a monthly basis.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including accountants of other divisions within the cluster.

 Regulatory reporting:

• Assist Compliance with any ad-hoc reports required for regulatory visits.
• Ensure all taxes are filed according to tax standards.

Other

• Various tax preparations and submissions.
• Review and approval of monthly payments.
• Review and approval of journal entries where necessary.
• Review and approval of month-end reconciliations.

Requirements

• CA(SA) with 2+ years’ finance/post articles experience

Education

• Chartered Accountant (Required)
