    Mine Planning Engineer

    The Mine Planning Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of planning functions and systems for the project and to optimise the mine development strategy. He/she will play a crucial role in the detailed analysis and evaluation of the mine development strategy including assessment of operational options and the preparation of mine schedules and budgets, resource optimisation, production analysis and ore & waste reconciliation.

    The Mine Planning Engineer will lead the ongoing optimisation of the pit resources, designs and plans, mine equipment, capital expenditure, waste and water management to ensure the best utilisation of the Resource.

    Minimum Requirements for the role:

    • Degree in Mine Engineering or Geology with 5+ years post-graduate experience
    •      Specific and in-depth operational experience in Mine Planning.
    •      Extensive knowledge of mine planning/scheduling and design packages.
    •      Demonstrated organisational and management skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks
    •      and meet deadlines.
    •      Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all organisational levels.
    •      Well-developed computer and presentation skills.
    •      Ability to influence people with differing perspectives and priorities and gaining stakeholder buy-in.
    •      Thrive within a broad, multi-national team with a mix of cultures and backgrounds.
    • Ability to manage a team and possess skills for conflict resolution and problem solving.
    • Strong sense of responsibility and leadership.
    • An exemplary health and safety record and the ability to ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.
    • Ability to speak Portuguese is an added advantage.
    • Exposure to Gemstone mining is an advantage.
    • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of short term/medium term planning and budgeting as well as operational support.
    • High level of competence in the use of mine planning, scheduling and reporting software.
    • Experience with Surpac is highly preferred.
    • A proven history in delivering results in scheduling, budgeting and reporting.
       

    Note:

    • The opportunity is open to Mozambican nationals as well as expatriates (single status on site residential)

    For Expats:

    • 84 days annual leave
    • 10/3 rotation
    • Four return flights annually
    • For locals residing outside of the Cabo Delgado region:
    • 52 days leave annually
    • four return flights annually
    • For locals residing within the Cabo Delgado region:
    • 32 days leave annually
