The Mining Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all mining operations at the site, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical skills to coordinate with various departments and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise all mining activities, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling.
Develop and implement mining plans to achieve production targets and meet quality standards.
Monitor and control costs, including labor, equipment, and materials, to ensure optimized operations.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among all employees.
Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to improve mining efficiency and resolve operational issues.
Train and mentor mining staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Conduct regular inspections of the mining site to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment availability and reliability.
Prepare reports on production performance, safety incidents, and operational improvements.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize mining processes and increase productivity.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering or related field.
Open Cast Blasting Certificate
Minimum 8 years' experience in an open pit mining environment
At least 4 years' experience holding a 2.6.1 appointment
Strong technical knowledge of mining processes, equipment, and regulations.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Proven track record of meeting production targets and maintaining safety standards.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
