    Non Motor Procurement Consultant

    Job Description

    • The purpose of this job to manage, monitor and track the Company’s claims spend while supporting the business with a supplier base that enables the Company to fulfil its claims promise

    Critical objectives and responsibilities

    Strategic

    • Negotiating, drafting, and preparing all the contracts in accordance with the Procurement policies and procedures. 
    • Collate relevant motor and non-motor claims data on required goods and/or services.
    • Perform commercial evaluation of suppliers for inclusion in the company’s approved supplier’s database, to ensure strategic requirements are met.
    • Administration of the contracts, supplier performance and evaluation; and maintain the contracts database.
    • Negotiate contracts for the supply of motor and non- motor related goods and/or services and award such contracts were authorised by the company.
    • Agreeing commercial terms with the service provider ensuring fair outcomes for both contracting parties.
    • Drafting agreements, reviewing, and assessing potential risks to Company.
    • Align sourcing requirements with the Company’s risk appetite.
    • Identify and mitigate risks within the Procurement value chain as well as the claims processes.

    Customer

    • Resolve escalated customer queries and complaints and provide feedback to customers on matters resolved.
    • Ensure suppliers contracted to meet requirements and adhere to turn around times.

    Collaboration

    • Identify internal and external stakeholders, determining needs and goals, engaging, and influencing to achieve positive outcomes
    • Review requests for goods and/or services and attend meetings with internal customers to determine requirements and priorities.
    • Liaise with all the relevant internal departments on the progress of RFX and contracts.
    • Present outcomes to Management Committee with recommendation on preferred service provider, ensure all policy requirements are met
    • Liaise with the relevant legal parties of suppliers and the company to ensure Old Mutual Insure governance criteria are met and adhered to.

    Compile, draft and finalise contract documents, and acquire authorised internal BU and supplier’s signatures. ensure delegation of authority requirements are meet and adhered in line with company policy.

    • Assist BU with Procurement policy and requirements.
    • Engages with others in line with organisational guidelines, policies, culture, and values.
    •  Actively participate in the Claims Procurement team to ensure functional balanced scorecard objectives are achieved.
    • Actively share information with other team members regarding successes, issues, trends, and ideas.
    • Team player, commitment to the company, its mission, and colleagues, reliable, responsible, and flexible.

    Leading with Influence

    •  Expedite and follow through for finalisation of RFX and contract award in the shortest possible time and accelerate related internal processes and documentation to alleviate unnecessary delays.

    Innovation

    • Continuous improvement to ensure effective service
    • Review claims data and identify cost drivers highting both internal and external contributing factors.
    • Advising the BU on new trends in the market enabling the Company to reduce claims cost.
    • Driving and implementing cost savings projects while reviewing market impact.
    • Drive company strategy in regards to automation and seamless claims processing.
    • Review new technologies in the market to assist the claims and Procurement process. Identifying services providers that can give the Company a technology competitive.
    • Critical thinking, ability to observe, interpret and problem solve to select the best suited service provider.
    • Ensure adherence to organisational policies, practices, and procedures. Identify and recommend areas / ways to improve processes.
    • Maintain service, quality, and desired outputs within a specific functional process through ensuring compliance to tactical policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Cost control and governance adherence.
    •  Proactively ensure use of time, of resources, money, materials, or equipment is in line with policies and procedures.
    •  Develop work routines in line with operational plans
    • schedules to manage achievement of service delivery goals.
    • Company values to be maintained always ensure business ethics remain key for achieving corporate sustainability, social welfare, and fair treatment of service providers.

    Executing

    •  Provide ongoing contracts administration after contract award, including managing the Contracts Cycle.
    • Initiate appropriate action in the event of claims or problems arising out of any negotiated contracts.

    Experience, knowledge & skills required

    • Matric
    • Relevant Degree in Supply Chain / Business Management or similar qualification will be advantageous.
    • 7 years’ experience in short-term insurance claims procurement environment
    • Knowledge of Insurance Systems
    • Writing of proposals and business documents
    • Complex decision-making ability
    • Negotiation
    • Good communication skills
