NRG 122/26 Technician at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, must be registered as a Candidate Engineering Technician.
• 3 – 5 years relevant experience
• Valid Code B Drivers License
• Knowledge in relevant OHS Act Procedures, Electrical Network Management, Electricity By-laws and SAP system would be advantageous
• Experience using SAP to create purchase requisitions and reservations would be advantageous

Key Performance Areas

• Liaising with internal bodies e.g. High Voltage, Engineering, TSD, Distribution, System Control and management regarding maintenance requirements and management activities.
• Liaising with external bodies e.g. Eskom, other municipal and international utilities, specialists, consultants and OEM's.
• Network Performance: Liaising with the relevant divisions and bodies regarding network/equipment performance.
• Technical Support: To provide engineering and systems support to HV internal management, as well as field Supervisors and Engineering Assistants.
• Co-ordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements associated operational key performance and result indicators.
• Assist the High Voltage internal management, with all projects across various branches.

Special Conditions:

• Required to work in all weather conditions
• Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime
• Familiar with the requirements of the OHSA Act and operating regulations as pertaining to the HV electrical environment
• Technical proficiency in the high voltage Circuits electrical environment
• Able to work in a high-pressure environment and able to make high risk decisions
• Communication skills, verbal/written, Analytical thinking, Planning and Organising, Attention to detail and Sound interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work independently
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Judgement and decision making (strategic thinker)
• Sound safety knowledge and practice record
