Operation Manager: Special Services – REF: OPSMANSS-JW385EX/2024 at Johannesburg Water

PURPOSE

To manage the field operations relative to pressure management, bulk water supply distribution, on site sanitation and chemical toilets in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible for the customer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and control proper construction, operations, repair and maintain of the water and sanitation network in accordance with productivity norms, service standard, statutory and other safety requirement, and JW codes of practice.
• Manage the provision, servicing and maintenance of the chemical toilets and on-site sanitation. 
• Ensure that all construction and maintenance work within the water and sanitation area is a Coordinator.
• Participate in the organizational planning process of the region and to develop, implement and manage tactical plans for the effective implementation of the network strategies and policies.
• Manage and supervise personnel within the context of IR policies, the condition of service and the principle set out for management. Identify, train, and develop staff. Monitor the effective utilization, development, and motivation of personnel.
• Maintain good industrial relation and establish good communication pattens, manage financial control over expenditure for the section, ensure that the productivity levels and costs are kept within the estimate or targets levels, ensure environment regulations are complied with at a” times.
• Liaise with representatives and the Communities on proper use of on-site sanitation services.
• Maintain good relations with the public, Councilors, and other officials.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential qualifications and experience:

•  Grade 12/N3 in Mechanical + Fitter/Welder/Boilermaker trade test certificate or NQF level 4 Mechanical learnership.
•  5 years’ experience in operation and maintenance of water reticulation specifically relating to maintenance of valves and PRV’s, of which 2 years must at a supervisory level.
•  Code EB drivers’ licence.
