    Operation Manager: Special Services – REF: OPSMANSS-JW385EX/2024

    PURPOSE

    To manage the field operations relative to pressure management, bulk water supply distribution, on site sanitation and chemical toilets in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible for the customer.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage and control proper construction, operations, repair and maintain of the water and sanitation network in accordance with productivity norms, service standard, statutory and other safety requirement, and JW codes of practice.

    PURPOSE

    • Assist the Supervisor with the daily operation of all wastewater treatment works in all physical activities.     • To plan, manage & execute the day-to-day finance operations for Johannesburg Water in compliance with the relevant legislative and accounting standards and regulations governing a municipal owned entity, culminating in the production of periodic reports, annual financial statements, and notes thereto, and a clean external audit opinion for the organisation.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide inputs to the  JWater annual, 3-year and 10-year Strategic Plan and the Annual Business Plans Evaluate and prioritise risks and assess the options for accommodating the risks.
    • Strategize and develop the year end closure plan and manage and execute thereupon to produce annual financial statements in terms of SA GAAP, GAMAP, GRAP, and IFRS.
    • Assist with content of Johannesburg Water annual report and present to board for approval.
    • Develop systems and procedure for the management and control of the departmental performance and deliverables.
    • Ensure that systems meet requirements of all applicable legislation.
    • Develop strategies and controls to ensure high levels of ethics and sound governance to minimize/avoid potential risk/loss/fraud.
    • Ensure sound understanding of all SAP processes to manage accuracy of financial results of the company.
    • Manage the SAP financial system, inclusive of General Ledger, Accounts Receivable/Payable, Fixed Assets, and Banking/Petty Cash.

    • Ensure the integrity of the transactions managed by Johannesburg Water with regards to the cash collected.
    • Ensure effective management of Company’s assets register and adherence to companies Fixed Asset Policy.
