Kromco (Pty) Ltd is one of the major role players in the pome fruit industry, situated in Grabouw. They are looking for a dynamic, energetic Packhouse Foreman to join the production team.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

• Minimum Grade 12

• Recognized tertiary qualification in Operations or Production Management

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Production / Packhouse environment, of which 2 years should have been in Supervisory/Management Capacity.

• Knowledge and understanding of fruit quality standards, customer specifications, packing material and packing machinery

• Must be Computer literate

• Communicate effectively at all levels

• Must be able to manage people

• Be able to function well in a team

• Good knowledge of Food Safety & Safety regulations

• Be willing to work shifts

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Production Planning: Ensure that fruit per packing line is scheduled according to a packing program in order to maintain optimum throughput and limit downtime.

• Production Objectives: Plan, organise and manage employees per packing line to ensure that the planned throughput and goals are met. 

• Quality Management: Focus on the sorting of fruit by making sure the right quality fruit ends up in the right grade as per sorting specifications.

• Personnel Management: Maintain discipline in accordance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act. Ensure employee morale remains positive by being involved on the Production floor. Address enquiries promptly and assist in identifying training needs of employees in your team.

• Financial Management: Assist with cost management of the Packhouse budget, by considering what is ordered and how the costs compare to the budget.

• Equipment Management: Liaise with the engineering department by providing accurate and timely information regarding equipment that is not functioning properly, could potentially break down or damage fruit.

• Audit Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment in line with the company’s Safety System. Complete incident investigations and make recommendations to prevent recurrence of incidents. Ensure that Packhouse Documentation and working methods comply with BRC Standard.

• Innovations: Incumbent are expected to come up with innovative thinking that focuses on systems, processes and working methods to ensure continuous improvement.
