    Payroll Administrator

    Responsibilities:

    Financial Perspective:

    • Contribute to annual departmental budget planning by compiling operational, capex, and labour budgets.
    • Manage sub-function objectives in line with approved budgets, reporting variances and implementing corrective actions.
    • Review and authorise payments in compliance with policies and budgets.

    Internal Business Processes / Technical Perspective:

    • Manage, update, and upgrade the Payroll System, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
    • Implement improvements based on legislative changes, company procedures, and negotiations.
    • Conduct reconciliations of payroll transactions (salaries, bonuses, benefits) before processing payments.
    • Ensure compliance with PAYE, UIF, Skills Development Levies, Pension Fund, and SARS regulations.
    • Provide accurate payroll data and reporting for executive decision-making and statutory submissions.
    • Calculate and oversee incentive schemes (e.g., Performance Management Incentive, Long-Term Incentive Scheme).

    Customer / Stakeholder Relations:

    • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Act as a liaison with employee benefit administrators and provide payroll-related advice.

    Organisational & Growth Perspective:

    • Allocate work, mentor staff, and manage performance of direct reports.
    • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, operational standards, and statutory compliance.
    • Lead change initiatives and optimise resource utilisation within the payroll function.

    Requirements:

    • National Diploma in Payroll Management or equivalent (Bachelor of Accounting with Tax certification advantageous).
    • 5–6 years’ experience in payroll/accounting within a mining environment.
    • 2 years’ supervisory experience (advantageous).
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
    • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, legislative compliance, and financial reconciliations.
    • Proficiency in payroll software and advanced Excel skills.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
