    Plant Supervisor - Midrand

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Responsible to ensure that the sand drying Plant is run optimally.
    • Efficiently manage resources available in order to optimise plant and truck utilisation, raw materials, human resources and finances to supply the required products of high a quality on time.
    • Run a strict maintenance regime to ensure maximum Plant availability.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 with a recognised 3-year tertiary qualification.  (Preferably Civil/Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering)
    • Code EB Driver Licence - Reliable own transport (Pick-Up)
    • Experience in Sand drying or Bitumen Plant
    • Computer Literacy – Sage Evolution and MS Office
    • 5 Years FMCG/Civil/Industrial experience, 3 years as a supervisor
    • Experience in scheduling of maintenance work
    • Experience in shut down planning and execution
    • Fault finding and problem solving on plant equipment and plant processes.
    • Knowledge of maintenance Management Systems
    • Experience in maintenance of fixed plant equipment (e.g., feeders, belt conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, couplings, burners, etc.). and mobile equipment

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Manage and co-ordinate production, administration, and maintenance.
    • Ensure that team members carry out cleaning, lubrication, and inspections.
    • Carry out daily and weekly Inspections/checks related to stock, material and maintenance schedules.
    • Manage daily staff challenges and HR related matters.
    • Ensure daily short interval controls are done in accordance with the Company policy and procedure.
    • Conduct performance reviews and regular one on one discussion with subordinates.
    • Manage and establish a safe and healthy environment.
    • Manage and create a worker friendly workplace that will maintain high morale, integrity, and work ethics.
    • Manage and ensure high levels of housekeeping.
    • Perform walk-about and inspections and action non-conformance.
    • Carry out continuous on-the-job training with subordinates and sub-contractors and keep training registers up to date.
    • Ensure all Company policies and procedures are in place and complied with. Ensure that employees understand company policies and procedures by conducting regular reviews and short training intervals.
    • Maintain high levels of discipline in accordance with labour relations practices. Attend and conduct daily toolbox talks/meetings.
    • Prioritise and execute projects at the Plant.
    • Maintain good communication with Staff and Customers.
    • Ensure good communication with fellow employees and adhere to all set deadlines.
    • Ensure all documentation is handled with care and submitted to Head Office/Regional Office timeously.
    • Manage production workloads and deadlines.
    • Carry out random checks and inspections to ensure deadlines are adhere to.
    • Communicate deadlines with staff and train them to ensure deadlines are met.
    • Ensure all communication with Head Office/Regional Office is maintained and adhered to.
    • Conduct regular site visits to understand customer expectations and site challenges are resolved.

     PRODUCTION AND QUALITY

    • Carry out random checks to ensure that all production equipment is performing within the prescribed parameters.
    • Ensure all quality documentation is completed as required.
    • Ensure all quality equipment meet the set standards and is used according to the set standards, and clean when used.
    • Ensure curing bath temperatures are controlled as prescribed and circulating pumps are working.
    • Liaise with raw material suppliers to ensure availability of material is as and when needed and supplied according to the SANS specification.
    • Resolve raw material discrepancies with suppliers in conjunction with Quality Control Management.
    • Manage and ensure that samples are taking and tested in accordance with the prescribed standards.
    • Random inspections of trucks to ensure compliance with SHE regulations and road transport regulations, as well as the mixer units to ensure proper mixing of produced concrete.
    • Arrange scale calibrations every three (3) months.

    Safety Health and Environmental Control

    • Attend the regular SHE meeting and walk about inspection and maintain a constant awareness of SHEQ requirements and the use of the Snakes and Hazards Safety campaign.
    • Action issues arising from SHE meetings and liaise with the Health and Safety Department when needed.
    • Maintain SHE records.
    • Manage and maintain all legal registers and ensure they are up to date and ensure COC certificates and pressure vessel tests are done in time.

    General Management Functions.

    • Conduct truck, FEL and Plant inspections to ensure the assets under his supervision is in good working condition and well-looked after.
    • Conduct weekly Invocom meetings.
    • Verify cumulative readings on the diesel pump for correctness and daily taking dips on the diesel stock.
    • Conduct daily raw material stock take (make sure it is accurate)
    • Submit all required monthly reports.
    • Ensure all necessary documents are submitted to the regional offices/Head Office on time (monthly stock summary)
    • Ad hoc requests and project
