    Power Systems Engineer Grid Impact Lightning Risk Specialist

    • You’re an experienced Electrical Engineer with a passion for renewable energy and a deep understanding of power system analysis. You’ve worked on grid impact studies, handled power system simulations using tools like DigSilent and ETAP, and can expertly assess and mitigate lightning risks in electrical systems. You’re someone who thrives in technical problem-solving, enjoys collaboration with diverse teams, and can effectively communicate complex electrical insights to various stakeholders.

    What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

    • You’ll be conducting grid impact studies to evaluate how renewable energy systems integrate into existing electrical grids. Using advanced tools like DigSilent and ETAP, you’ll perform detailed power system analysis, including load flow, short circuit, and stability studies. Your role will also involve conducting lightning risk assessments and advising on mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of renewable energy systems.
    • Working closely with project teams and external stakeholders, you’ll help shape the design, commissioning, and operations of cutting-edge renewable energy projects. You’ll be solving complex engineering challenges and ensuring that the projects meet all regulatory standards for grid integration.

    • A strong understanding of South African grid codes and renewable energy standards is important.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders will make you a standout candidate.
    • While professional registration with ECSA is an advantage, your passion for renewable energy and commitment to excellence is what truly counts.
