A high level of literacy and general subject knowledge, as well as knowledge of literature in general
Fully conversant with all aspects of public librarianship

Providing professional support and direction and managing all th operations and administration within the LIS discipline in a Regional category library
Ensuring the implementation and maintenance of procedures and systems associated with the efficient and effective running of a public library
Managing personnel and their performance, training and development
Developing and maintaining a balanced and relevant public library collection
Liaising with community organisations, educational institutions and businesses and participating in relevant forums
Ensuring the development of internal and external partnerships to i mplement business improvements and to support the promotion of professional services
