    Project Coordinator

    Project Coordinator

    We are recruiting for a Project Coordinator to join a well-recognised subsidiary company which specialises in a mass handling facility that imports and exports a wide variety of products. The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of contract forms, OSH Act 85 of 1993 and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Project Management.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric.
    • NQF6 qualification or equivalent in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management.
    • Vehicle and valid Driver’s License.

    Technical Requirements:

    • Advantageous to have a professional project management registration (PMP).
    • Working knowledge of contract forms such as GCC, FIDIC, NEC, JBCC, etc.
    • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, especially the Construction Regulations.
    • Proficiency in CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) and ERPs (Enterprise Resource Planning).
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio.
    • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar drafting packages

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Planned Maintenance:

    • Monitor and maintain BC fleet planned maintenance systems, including OEM systems and maintenance schedules.
    • Coordinate timely bookings with OEMs, communicating with Operations teams for impacted vehicle availability.
    • Rail Infrastructure and Terminal Tractor Trucks Maintenance Management:
    • Lead workshop team in maintaining terminal tractors and infrastructure.
    • Develop maintenance plans for terminal tractors.
    • Interface with Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) for rail infrastructure maintenance.
    • Manage locomotive and rail infrastructure maintenance contracts.
    • Achieve weekly and daily maintenance targets and efficiencies.

    Project Management:

    • Review and approve equipment datasheets, sizing, and specifications for infrastructure projects.
    • Manage a portfolio of projects, overseeing planning, cost control, procurement, and contract forms.
    • Lead project site progress measures, planning sessions, and kick-off meetings.
    • Collaborate with drafting teams to align drawings with project specifications.
    • Liaise with contractors for infrastructure scope in capital projects.

    Safety and Environment:

    • Assume legal accountability for OSH Act GMR 2.7 in supervising terminal equipment.
    • Lead risk assessments (HIRAs) and attend safety committee meetings.
    • Ensure project risk assessments are completed.
    • Lead change management (MOC) in projects and workshop maintenance.
    • Champion occupational health and safety strategy for zero harm.
    • Maintain IMS environmental and safety documentation.

    Budgets and Cost Control:

    • Generate and monitor maintenance budgets for terminal infrastructure and workshop.
    • Review cost pools to identify and contain costs.
    • Develop a 5 to 10-year capital plan for sustainable infrastructure management.
    • Stakeholder Engagement (External).
    • Interface with TNPA & TFR infrastructure management departments.
    • Liaise with Port Engineer regarding port infrastructure.
    • Stakeholder Engagement (Internal):
    • Liaise with all departments for project execution challenges and objectives.
    • Collaborate with other departments to seek solutions and implement changes.
    • Provide maintenance and project-related feedback at meetings.
    • Build effective relationships with managers, peers, team members, and suppliers.

    Innovation:

    • Apply new ideas and work methods to improve business results through team engagement.

    General:

    • Perform any other legal responsibilities in the interest of the company.
    • Ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Attend meetings.
    • Perform plant-wide engineering standby duties.
