Project Engineer - Steam Turbine Overhauling at Redheads Engineering Solutions (Pty) Ltd

• Redheads Engineering Solutions is looking to recruit two Project Engineers for our Services Company. The person MUST have experience in the overhauling of steam turbines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Management:
• Lead and manage steam turbine overhaul projects, ensuring all activities are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Review and adhere to detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, safety, overhauling and quality assurance, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Must ensure project is executed according to standards, laid out in the contract
• Ensure all contractual objectives are met
• Manage and adhere to project budget 
• Technical Expertise:
• Develop and implement engineering solutions to address identified issues, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the turbine systems.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures for the overhaul process.
• Quality and Safety:
• Ensure all overhaul activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and safety regulations.
• Liaise with quality control inspections and tests to verify the integrity and performance of overhauled turbines.
• Implement safety protocols and conduct risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards during the overhaul process.
• Client and Stakeholder Communication:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status, addressing concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Present technical information and project progress to stakeholders, both internal and external, in a clear and concise manner.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the overhaul projects.
• Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to steam turbine technology and maintenance.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications:

Education:

• BTech or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on steam turbine overhaul and maintenance.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects.
• Skills and Competencies:
• Strong technical knowledge of steam turbine systems and components.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
