Project Manager at ABB

You will be working as a Project Manager, and will be the part of Process Automation Business Area for Energy Industries Division based in, Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Project Manager and will lead the execution of medium-size projects and ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with ABB policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.

Your responsibilities

• Lead the project team allocated to the project, define main guidelines, allocate project tasks, and motivate and monitor internal and external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones. Provide performance feedback regarding allocated resources working on projects.
• Define, jointly with the Project Controls department, all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans. Ensure that the project follows execution best practices and ABB policies. Effectively monitor and control project progress and efficient resource utilization and monitor and control project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expense and cash flow.
• Identify, qualify, quantify and manage project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued and capture, analyze and share lessons learned throughout the project. Ensures that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed and drive the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
• Ensure that the project consistently apply contract and claims management, in accordance with ABB policies and contractual agreements. Coordinate with Supply Chain Management, and successfully procure required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers and support Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project change.
• Act as key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues, build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
• Ensure the project follows and comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

Your background

• National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 5 years of experience managing projects.
• Project Management Experience.
• Experience with Projects of different size, complexity and contractual types.
• PMP certification from Project Management Institute or certified as Project Manager will be added advantage.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite.
• Demonstrated experience in management of project scope, cost, schedules and vendors/subcontractors.
• Strong organization skills, Leadership skills; Negotiation skills, Proactive, Result-oriented, Ability in managing several tasks.
• Excellent client-facing, written and verbal communication skills.
