    Provincial General Manager

    Lead and direct operational excellence and execution in the Regions to foster excellence in client centricity, increased productivity and effectively align operational sales and client services teams in the geographic area

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Degree in Business Management or Commerce
    • FSB recognised qualification listed or credits pertaining to the date of first appointment in the industry, listed on the most recently published Board notice as published for recognised qualification, to fulfil the duties of a compliant supervisor.
    • FAIS Key Individual Regulatory Exam Level 1
    • FAIS Representative Regulatory Exam Level 5 passed
    • Valid drivers licence and own transport
    • 5-8 years’ senior sales management experience in a similar role in the life insurance industry
    • 6 years’ senior management experience
    • Understanding of financial services retail distribution channel business
    • Minimum one year managerial experience overseeing the rendering of financial advice to fulfil the duties of a compliant key individual and be registered with the FSB
    • Ability to speak African languages or multi-lingual (preferred)
    • Understanding of the relevant

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK OUTPUTS

    • Implement and manage the sales strategy for the Regions that are aligned to the overall business strategy and the principles of client centricity.
    • Develop, implement and manage a risk management strategy for the relevant Regions that effectively manage and mitigate risks.
    • Drive the execution of strategic projects that impact the Regions.
    • Research and build competitor and market intelligence for the Regions in order to proactively enhance sales strategy and tactics.
    • Drive the reduction of wastage in the Regions
    • Drive legislative and internal compliance within the Regions and ensure adherence to high ethical standards.
    • Ensure efficient client service and administration processes are developed, implemented, maintained and managed within the geographic area.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Induct, develop and support and establish Regional Managers to meet and exceed performance standards
    • Recruit, select and retain high quality Regional Managers by ensuring an optimum mix of talent in order to build capability to meet current and future staffing needs.
    • Ensure that segmentation insights, information and toolkits are understood and applied by Regional Managers to guide and train staff to identify and reach target segment customers.
    • Monitor and track Regions performance to ensure that business meet agreed productivity, production and quality targets.
    • Manage the effective utilisation of competitor information to identify current and prospective sales opportunities.
    • Encourage innovation within the Region and client solutions to enhance productivity and profitability.
    • Oversee the effective utilisation of the Distribution Management Operating System information to monitor and manage financial performance
    • Analyse the profitability within the Regions and oversee the formulation and implementation of plans for improvement with the relevant stakeholders.
    • Report on the sales performance of the Regions
    • Strategically direct service delivery to meet internal and external customer after sales needs, expectations and targets.
    • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders
    • Create a positive work climate and culture to energise employees, give meaning to work, minimise work disruption and maximise employee productivity.
    • Demonstrate exemplary leadership behaviour, through personal involvement, commitment and dedication in support of organisational values.

    • Evaluate strategies to retain staff
    • Drive the achievement of sales targets across products and market channels to achieve set strategic financial goals.
    • Ensure that the functional strategy is adequately budgeted for through the development and implementation of a fit for purpose budget.
    • Drive the development and implementation of governance, compliance, integrity and ethics frameworks throughout the functional area.
