    Quality Controller

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    Maintain comprehensive quality control / assurance programme for the intrinsic laboratory

    • Manage the routine Laboratory functions
    • Adhere to Best Laboratory Practice
    • Ensure that all analyses are performed according to correct methods and equipment is maintained properly
    • Purchasing of glassware, reagents and chemicals
    • Ensure availability of all procedures, specifications and methods
    • Plan all work through the Laboratory to ensure approvals are coordinated with production outputs.
    • Ensure timeous reporting on non-conforming issues
    • Approve and reject materials
    • Compare analyses test results with relevant specifications
    • Approve or reject intrinsic materials utilizing procedures as prescribed by the Quality Management system
    • Drive the corrective action system through the proper use of the CPAR system.
    • Assist with problem solving.
    • Liaise internally and externally with suppliers of reagents and equipment.
    • Manage Effluent Lab and reporting.
    • Manage the Quality FTR of Site.
    • Effective management of all Quality Systems and Food Safety
    • Effective management and completion of internal controls and related activities
    • Active participation in internal and external Audits
    • Ensuring LIMS utilization throughout the site
    • Active participation in relevant TPM activities
    • Training of personnel on Quality control measures
    • Management of test equipment to ensure on-time calibration and maintenance
    • Collecting and compiling statistical quality data
    • Development of equipment Capex requirements

    The successful candidate must have the following attributes, qualifications, experience and skills:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification – Nat. Diploma/Degree in Food Technology; Microbiology or equivalent
    • 2-3 years relevant experience in a Food and Beverage laboratory environment
    • Sound knowledge of ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, HACCP, ISO 17025
    • Computer literate with MS Excel, MS Office, Power Point, SAP, LIMS and Livelink
    • Strong numerical aptitude and analytical abilities are essential.
    • Strong planning and organising skills.
    • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
    • Have proven verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure
