    Quality Leader - NRC Eastern Cape

    Description

    National Renal Care has grown and evolved into the leading total kidney disease management organisation that provides person-centered health and care, which is digitally enabled, and data driven. National Renal Care seeks to recruit an ambitious, talented, goal driven and self-motivated individual to fulfil the role of a Clinical Governance Quality Leader.

    The Clinical Governance Quality Leader will be responsible for ensuring all unit quality audits are done and the improvement of patient outcomes for the area under their management.

    The incumbent will further be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs, is a role model in the delivery of evidence-based care and will actively participate in Clinical Governance.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Collaborate with the operations manager and renal care specialist in determining the clinical need in the region.
    • Collaborate with the renal care specialist and unit leader in the identification and development of unit specific education and clinical outcomes goals.
    • Promote quality care through the implementation of the clinical pathways and bundles of care.
    • Collaborate in the provision of continuous training and encourage continuous quality improvement in the unit environment.
    • Serves as a role model, promotes a professional image, and encourages professional personal growth of staff.
    • Assumes a broad level of accountability for the outcomes of care for an assignment of patients in a specific geographical area.
    • Is responsible for assisting with collecting and analysing data related to individual patient outcomes.
    • Devises care plans with the renal care specialist and unit leader and monitor progress thereof to improve the patients experience and clinical outcome.
    • The responsibility includes guiding the plan of care in collaboration with patients, families, physicians and the multidisciplinary team, toward reachable goals in a timely manner. Is in charge of the process and is accountable for identifying and removing barriers with will prevent the patient from reaching those goals.
    • Assist in the development, review, revision and roll out of clinical policies and procedures and/or education materials.
      Participate with the clinical department and unit managers in the identification and development of unit specific education and outcome goals.
    • Assist in the implementation and monitory of the goals to achieve desired results.
    • Benchmark unit outcomes, identify and share best practices.
    • Provide training and monitor the implementation of clinical policies and procedures in the unit.
    • Ensure quality management programs are in place and functional in the units.
    • Participate in the QI meetings to ensure areas for improvement are addressed and appropriate action plan is formulated per policy and procedure.
    • Perform unit quality audits and provide support in developing a plan of correction.
    • Work with the operation managers and renal care specialists to ensure implementation and resolution of deficiencies.
    • Provide timely submission of all reports and data collection.
    • Manage special projects regionally i.e. vascular access, Cath away etc.
    • Participate and assist in research.

    Requirements

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse/Midwife or equivalent NQF 7 qualification with a postgraduate qualification/Independent Clinical Technologist: Nephrology
    • Relevant qualification within a specialist area
    • Relevant experience in the nursing discipline
    • Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation
