    Reaction Officer - Grade B

    Job Context    

    • Servest Security is seeking Reaction Officers with Grade B.  The Reaction officer is responsible for visible patrolling duties, reaction to all emergencies and call outs, assist with the implementation and maintenance of an effective and efficient security system on the mine, to protect company assets against theft, abuse, misappropriation and wilful damage or loss as well as supervision of all security members. and lead the security team. The position is based in Secunda.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Grade 10 or Grade 11 report with minimum of 5 years’ experience
    • Valid PSIRA Grade B Certificate
    • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in the security industry
    • At least 2 years’ experience as a Reaction Officer or in armed response
    • Experience in patrolling, alarm response, and emergency handling
    • Firearm competency certificate for relevant categories (Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle)
    • Firearm competency for Business Purpose (Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle)
    • Valid firearm permit issued by company or authority
    • Valid Arm Respond certificate ( not more than 5 years)
    • No criminal record (clear SAPS fingerprint clearance)
    • Medical fitness certificate
    • Must reside in Secunda

    Skills & Competencies

    • Excellent driving skills (Code 8/B licence – often Code 10/C1 preferred)
    • Knowledge of firearms safety and handling procedures
    • Ability to assess and respond to threats quickly
    • Strong communication (radio and verbal) Fluent in English
    • Incident reporting and observation skills
    • Basic computer literacy (for report logging and email)

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Develop and maintain an effective information network enabling the collection, evaluation and co-ordination of information from sources within and without the company, contributing to the detection and prevention of offences relating to fraud and theft.
    • Reporting of all crime and mine related information to the Shift Supervisor, his delegate or any other appointee.
    • Investigation of all criminal activities, crime scenes and management of such scenes inclusive of reporting such actions to Shift Supervisor without delay.
    • Monitor the application of security measures on the client’s premises and report the results thereof to the Shift Supervisor.
    • Parades must be held 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the shift at the designated area.
    • Ensure that vehicle is inspected and in good operating order to perform your duties.
    • Arrest any person committing a crime, which warrants an arrest as per Schedule Offences as per Criminal Procedures Act and Explosive Law.
    • Investigate all irregularities and any suspicions reported to you.
    • Contact the Security Control Room (TCS) immediately when suspicions and irregularities are positive.
