The role of the Investment Analyst in the Sales teams is to work closely with the Ashburton investment, business development and marketing teams and will be expected to analyze economic, market and funds data, to repurpose and package this information at both a macro and granular level for our primary target markets and key stakeholders. The purpose of the Investment Analyst is to provide qualitative and quantitative investment insights to assist the business unit in making sound investment and strategic decisions.
Experience and Qualifications
Postgraduate or Honours degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science or Economics or a Quantitative discipline
CFP and CFA qualifications will be advantageous
A Masters level degree would be advantageous
Experience and Skills
Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in a similar environment, of which 1 - 2 years ideally at a junior specialist level
Experience as an investment analyst in investment banking or global markets or asset management
Minimum of 2 years relevant analytical experience obtained at a respected financial institution
Investment industry experience preferable
Financial services industry or consulting experience preferable as well as financial modelling experience.
Responsibilities
Improve business decisions by providing accurate and reliable business intelligence (information) together with analysing trends and data
Liaise with fund managers and network with industry professionals
Monitor closely financial press and keep a track of market trends, opportunities, risks and new investment products
Compile advisory reports and make informed recommendations on new investment opportunities and funds that could enhance or diversify portfolios
Accumulate information to review work progress that provides input to reporting, decision making and the identification of improvement opportunities
Compile various reports within Morningstar that compare Ashburton’s solutions to that of the broader market.
Analyze the quarterly ASISA stats and publish a comprehensive report which will inform strategic decision making.
Analyze and provide a comprehensive report on the Plexus Crown survey
Analyze and provide a comprehensive report on the Alexander Forbes Survey for our institutional teams
Engage with stakeholders both within RMB and FNB, leverage daily market publications, both locally and abroad and repackage for our key stakeholders and our Wealth Management target market, via various marketing mediums, such as mobile and desktop.
Work closely with legal and compliance and publish articles that have an investment planning orientation.
Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
