Scrum Master at MiX Telematics

Objectives/Purpose of the role:

The successful individual will have a thorough understanding of Agile Software Development methodologies, values and procedures. This individual will also have the ability to coach and lead a team to achieve the required/desired outcomes, as well as understand technical issues at a high level.

Responsibilities

· Conduct daily standups

• Review QA bugs
• Review SRs
• Review Sprint Backlog

Support Team Lead

• Monitor Team productivity and success
• Inform Team Leader of above and suggest methods to improve

Process Compliance

• Ensure Team complies with process (Project & Support)
• Ensuring the code is deployed to UAT at the right time
• Driving the sprint cycle requirements i.e. code freeze, integration testing, regression testing
• Planning and facilitating the team retrospectives and implementing the actions which come from it

Jira Administration

• Ensuring the right fix version is on each story at the end of each sprint so that documentation is correct and reflects the fixes contained in the release.
• Updating Jira to reflect new statuses
• General Jira administration

· General

• Ordering equipment. Scrum Masters do not order the equipment, but they actively follow to ensure development progress is not hindered
• Organization of the scrum ceremonies
• Highlighting and resolving dependencies to relevant parties to ensure swift resolution and limited delays
• · Line Management
• Grow a Scrum Master team and capability at MiX
•  The individual will possess the following:
• Certified Scrum Master is a “Must”
• Bachelor Degree or relevant education and experience

 Special Knowledge

· Understand

• basic fundamentals of iterative development
• basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures
• value of commitments to delivery made by a development team
• incremental delivery and the value of metrics
• backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity and task definition

• Must be able to garner respect from his/her team and be willing to get their hands dirty to get the job done
• Must be able to communicate well with people and have great energy levels
• Must be able to lead and demonstrate value-add principles to a team
• Must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, must be able to voice reason and authority, make the tough calls
• Must be the first to notice difference and issues as they arise and elevate them to line management
• Must continually be growing ones craft learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself and a team
• Must be able to facilitate discussion and facilitate alternatives or different approaches
• Must be able to lead a team to self – organisation
• Must desire to bring disclosure and transparency to the business about development and grow business trust
