Senior Fire Engineer (Pr Eng) at Hire Resolve

Job Description

• A well-established multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm specialising in building services across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, and fire engineering disciplines, is currently seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to lead and grow its fire engineering department. 
• The successful candidate will play a strategic leadership role, managing a team of four fire engineers while delivering rational fire engineering solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects, including hospitals, commercial buildings, renovations, and new developments. The organisation is currently involved in major fire compliance projects, including work at Groote Schuur Hospital, offering exposure to technically challenging and impactful assignments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the fire engineering department, providing technical guidance and mentorship to a team of four engineers.
• Deliver rational fire engineering designs for a wide range of building services projects.
• Take ownership of project delivery from concept through construction and completion.
• Ensure compliance with South African fire engineering standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Attend client meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders, including Afrikaans-speaking clients where required.
• Review and approve technical documentation, reports, and fire engineering calculations.
• Support business growth by maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement within the fire engineering department.

Requirements

• ECSA Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration (non-negotiable).
• Extensive experience in rational fire design within the building services consulting industry.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale commercial, healthcare, institutional, or mixed-use building projects.
• Strong understanding of South African fire engineering legislation, codes, and standards.
• Willingness to be based in Century City, Cape Town, or relocate (relocation assistance is available).
