Senior Fire Safety Officer at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualifications and experience required:

• A relevant tertiary qualification. Preferably a (Diploma in Fire Technology).
• Up to four years’ experience in a professional Fire Services.
• Must be registered as a Peace Officer.
• Valid Code EC Driver’s License with PrPD (Professional Driving Permit).

Key attributes and competencies:

• Must have a good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet critical / conflicting deadlines.
• Incumbent must be physically fit and able bodied.
• Must have good presentation, report writing and supervisory skills.
• Will be required to be on standby for work.
• Must be computer literate in MS Office Applications

Job purpose:

• Co-ordinates and supervises the procedures and operations associated with a Fire Safety Divisional District, through the implementation of laid down policies, plans, standards, and operating practices to create awareness and enforce compliance with Fire Safety legislation and provide advice on preventative measures to the public and professionals involved with major and minor development proposals in the built environment.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
