Senior GIS Technician at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• A relevant 3-year Tertiary qualification within the GeoInformation field;
• Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in a cadastral and sectional title environment;
• Proven proficiency of Geographical Information Systems (ArcGIS) and MS Office;
• Knowledge of SAP (Land Use Management Systems would be advantageous);
• Good communication and analytical skills; and
• A valid Code B/EB driver’s license.

Key Performance Areas

• Perform GIS operations on a variety of system applications;
• Capture edit and maintain datasets in a versioned Geodatabase;
• Provide data analysis in order to check, validate and manipulate data to achieve consistency and accuracy;
• Prepare and produce spatial reports and maps on request;
• Adhere to the operations of the branch pertaining to operational targets, staff performance, productivity, development and training;
• Provide a Technical Support Service by conducting research to keep abreast on the latest GIS trends and technology, and contribute to the formulation for the divisions’ performance targets.
