To ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems, including but not limited to voice, data, and wireless network services within the Company. The successful candidate will need to show proven hands on experience managing, troubleshooting and supporting a complex, virtualized hybrid environment. As all support, maintenance and troubleshooting will happen on live mission critical systems operating 24 x 7 x 365

Key Responsibilities 

• Provides recommendations on the technology and design of compute, storage, network and telecom infrastructure, and cloud infrastructure services, including lifecycle replacement, future growth and redundancy
• Leads implementations - Implements and helps to maintain all infrastructure and security systems including, but not limited to compute, storage, virtualization, networking and telecommunications
• Recommending solutions for overall Business and Technology innovation and optimization / improvement that will increase sustainability and prepare for future expansion.
• Ensuring that architecture (Business Architecture, Data Architecture, Application architecture, Technology Architecture) integrate and inter-operate in a cost-effective manner, with minimum effort and maximum benefit to the organization.
• Design, maintenance, development and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, internet, intranet, wireless implementations and standardisation.
• Participate with the global Infrastructure manager on design and implementations of strategic plans to ensure capacity requirements are met.
• Be part of the virtual Global IT Security team.
• Define and maintain hardware and software standards with owners and stakeholders.
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning / recommendation.
• Test the physical and virtual security of ERG Africa’s IT Infrastructure and systems.
• Strong leadership and time management skills to train and support 1st and 2nd level Systems Engineers / 1st, 2nd and 3rd level IT Support Engineers.
• Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
• Quarterly reviews of team members to assist IT Manager with training requirements within the department.
• Regional and International travel.

Essential Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent 3 year+ Tertiary qualification) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent.
• Must have and IT architecture certification. TOGAF certification is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Enterprise Architect or equivalent role
• Cisco CCNA, CCNP
• MSCE
• TOGAF
• Microsoft Exchange 2019
• Virtualization (VMWare)
• Citrix SD WAN

10 + years’ experience supporting datacentre in:

• SCCM
• Microsoft Exchange
• Active Directory
• DNS and DHCP
• Nimble Storage (would be advantageous)
• Enterprise Backup
• VMWare, Hyper-V and general virtualised environment skills
• Backup technologies eg. Veeam, storage backup solutions
• Firewalls, routers, load balancers and TCP/IP networking
• Windows Server Administration
• Routing and Switching
• Hyperconverged technologies
