The purpose of this role is to teach and share your passion for the culinary industry with eager young students; helping them grow individually, and ultimately playing a role in their career paths and success in life. Alongside the development of students, this role is responsible for the management of the Culinary Arts campus department and team – overseeing the lecturing team and the operation of the culinary programmes and related resources on campus.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Facilitate and conduct lectures and kitchen practical sessions
Ensure a pass rate of 85% and throughput rate of 90% is achieved
Student tracking, counselling and support
Input towards teaching and learning philosophy and activities, curriculum development and improvement
Carry out quality assurance activities as per process
Manage campus assessment principles and processes
Industry time and research
Departmental management and administration
Management reporting
Contribute to semester-based WIL activities, assessment and moderation
Analyse student performance through reporting and develop intervention strategies
Analyse student overall performance, instructional approaches, changes and modification
Build rapport with and develop relations with all stakeholders including partners, internal and external mentors, assessors and local and international networks.
Execution of approved workload (coordination, lecturing, assessing, WIL visits)
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years Culinary Arts experience as a chef
Minimum 2 years lecturing / teaching/assessor
Experience in a managerial position is preferred
