    Senior Lecturer: Finance

    The Department of Finance and Tax, a department within UCT’s Faculty of Commerce, invites applications for
    permanent full-time position at the level of Senior Lecturer for appointment at the start of 2024. The primary
    functions are research, teaching and learning, leadership, management and administration, and social
    responsiveness.

    We wish to appoint a candidate with good technical knowledge of corporate finance and/or investment
    science, and we seek someone who wishes to be part of a faculty in which a critical and comparative approach
    to the study of finance is valued.

    Requirements for the position:

    •  A PhD or equivalent qualification in finance or a cognate discipline
    •  A demonstrable ability to lecture at undergraduate level with potential to teach at postgraduate level
    •  A demonstrable academic research track record at national level as evidenced by DHET accredited academic journal publications
    •  A demonstrable record of supervision at honours and masters level 

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    •  An emerging track record of high-quality scholarly outputs demonstrated by publications in top ranked journals
    •  Demonstrated ability to teach at postgraduate levels and to develop innovative and high-quality course materials
    •  A track record of high-quality supervision at the postgraduate level

    Key responsibilities include:

    •  Teaching on specific undergraduate and postgraduate corporate finance and/or investment science courses as required by the Department in line with its needs
    •  Supervising honours (or equivalent) and masters research
    •  Conducting research at a level commensurate with the level of the post
    •  Be committed to innovative teaching and curriculum development
    •  Contributing to administration at the departmental and faculty levels
