    Senior Manager: Credit Decisioning & Development (JAVA)

    Role Purpose:

    An exciting opportunity within the Financial Services Industry has become availavle for a Senior Manager: Credit Decsioning & Development. The incumbent will need  to manage IT software development (java) in order to facilitate enhanced system performance. 

    Minimum Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree Information Technology
    • FICO Blaze Advisor DIA3

    Minimum Experience:

    • 8 years working experience as a FICO Blaze Advisor DIA3 of which 4 years must have been on people management

    Key Responsibilities: 

    Strategy Development and Management 

    • Set strategic direction for the Software Development (Java) functional area
    • Formulate and manage the implementation of strategy
    • Review progress on a quarterly basis and provide feedback to the various stakeholders &provide consulting service to the business 

    Management of Budget and Costs Control

    • Set and provide input for annual and monthly budgets (opex and capex)

     Manage the monthly costs reports by:

    • Perform monthly forecast to ascertain over / under expenditure
    • Report on any noticeable variances monthly on actuals and forecast
    • Control and communicate all costs outside of the budget to direct manager
    • Approve / decline contractual rates with labour brokers
    • Process quarterly incentives in line with the annual budget and IT strategy

    Management of Software Development

    • WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT
    • PHOENIX DEVELOPMENT
    •  WEBSERVICES
    • CS WORKFLOW
    •  LOAN PROCESSING

    Coding Standards

    • Manage the review of all codes written for applications to enhance performance, scalability and availability
    • Ensure that the environmental set up is according to set standards

    Version Control:

    • Enforce version control of source code

    Research and design:

    • Research new technology and manage implementation
    • Present to business for information and strategic direction
    •  Provide input to the spec writing and development during business process including JAD sessions


    People Management  - Including staff rentention, recruitment and team dynamics and efficiencies 

    • Attract and recruit resources to manage and achieve function delivery
    • Facilitate induction of new staff within one month of joining the organisation
    • Set, coach and manage initiatives to improve or enhance competency levels and skills within the functional area
    • Manage people efficiencies through leave management, headcount budget, fixed term contracts, staff movements, secondments, staff utilisation

    Manage and develop subordinates:

    • Performance management
    • Training and development
    • Employee Relations (EWP)
    • Take appropriate disciplinary measures for any misconduct by subordinates

    Treating Customers Fairly and Compliance

    • Create and maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients by providing advice and assistance
    • Create understanding of the ‘real’ versus ‘perceived’ need through experience and expertise while complying with company policies, legislation and regulations
    • Keep the client informed about progress through written communication, telephone communications, and/or face-to-face meetings
    • Build a positive image by exceeding client expectations at all times
    • Treat internal and external customers fairly at all times

    Management of Resources

    • Manage and develop subordinate(s): Performance management in terms of contracting, reviews and poor performers, Training and development, Employee relations
    • Manage people efficiencies through leave management, headcount budget, fixed term contracts, staff movements, secondments, staff utilization
    • Take appropriate disciplinary measures as required
    • Facilitate induction of new staff within one month of joining the organization
