    Senior Manager: Trade Marketing - DSTV Media Sales

    Purpose of the Position:
    To lead, develop and execute strategic marketing plans for the DMS business - in both South Africa and Rest of Africa - with the end goal of positioning DStv Media Sales as the Media House of choice across the continent.  

    Key Performance Objectives Outputs

    Strategic Marketing Management 

    • Develop a strategic marketing plan to assist the company achieve its set objectives for the year
    • Manage all trade marketing tools within the business in line with global players, i.e., website, rate card, etc. with the end goal of communicating the DMS offer to the market and ultimately drive revenues
    • Leverage on a clear understanding of the intricacies of the advertising business within the continent
    • Demonstrate an enhanced understanding of the Video Entertainment business across the continent
    • Keep abreast of current industry trends and latest thinking in the marketing world and implement back into the business where required
    • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company functions are kept informed of marketing objectives   

     
    Event Management 

    •  Conceptualise and deliver world class, creative and innovative channel events as well as trade functions
    • Co-ordinate and manage marketing budget in accordance to organisational plans and goals
    • Help create and manage a conducive work environment within the DMS business using strategic events and occurrences (staff events and functions)

     
    Communication 

    • Responsible for the production of all communication material and messaging conveyed to both internal and external parties
    • Predictive management and creation of all press releases for news updates, including but not exclusive to new as well as terminated products and services
    • Showcasing of DStv talent and key team members on all relevant platforms

     
    Stakeholder Management 

    • Develop and manage key stakeholder relationships across the business with both internal and external clients as well as key partners and alliances
    • Understand the primary needs of each stakeholder and partner to close any gaps
    • Build and manage key stakeholder service level agreements and develop strategies around business area needs to service these areas effectively

     
    People management 

    • Lead the recruitment and retention of the best talent and drive a proactive sales culture
    • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching. Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between teams and members.
    • Determine and analyse development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
    • Review and update roles and descriptions, annually, to ensure that they are fit for purpose and contain all the accountabilities of each team member.
    • Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance Improvement programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.
    • When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on support from Human Capital when required.
    • Resolve grievances raised by team members and escalate only if required.
    • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognised

     
    Qualifications
    Relevant post graduate qualification in Marketing or similar is required
     
    Experience and Technical Competencies

    • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in Strategic Brand Management & Digital Marketing
    • A sound understanding of the South African & Sub Saharan Africa Marketing industry
    • Existing Industry relationships and the proven ability to build productive relationships
    • Consulting skills, including the ability to interpret briefs and define the needs of clients while working in concert with the relevant project teams to ensure successful marketing plans and events
    • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges
    • Excellent verbal communication skills are necessary
    • Strong written and presentation skills fundamental
    • Public Relations Experience
