FEM is looking to appoint a Senior Operational Finance Manager. Reporting to the CFO, the successful applicant will lead and drive the Operational Finance area with overall responsibility for financial management in accordance with agreed business plans and annual budgets.
The position is also responsible for inter-alia monthly reporting originating from the policy administration system; efficient and effective governance and compliance with processes; leading and driving the development, implementation and monitoring of effective day to day operational finance processes as well as responsible for premium income, collections, credit control, and claims originating from the policy administration system and simplification and automation of operational finance processes, controls and system.
Working knowledge of company statute, South African tax laws and financial reporting standards including IFRS 17 as well as the ability to demonstrate competence to learn and apply new rules and regulations is a requirement of the position.
Previous experience in an operational finance area of an insurer would be advantageous.
The minimum requirements of the position are a CA (SA) with a membership in good standing with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). A minimum of 5-years post articles experience coupled with 3+ years relevant insurance industry experience, 3+ years in managing successful finance teams and ability demonstrate experience in the development and enhancement of current business practices are essential pre-requisites for the position.
The successful applicant must also be able to demonstrate experience and progressive advancement in financial positions within a financial environment and in addition experience working with executive teams and reporting into formal forums, namely boards and executive committees.
