RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior / Principal Structural Engineer to take on a technically senior position in Richards Bay.
This role is particularly suited to an engineer with a proven track record in structural evaluations, refurbishment and rehabilitation, as well as experience assessing the condition and remaining service life of structures. Exposure to mining environments will be highly advantageous.
The successful individual will play a senior technical role within the business, taking responsibility for project delivery while supporting the development of less experienced engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide senior technical direction on structural engineering assignments.
Lead the assessment of existing structures and identify appropriate remedial solutions.
Develop rehabilitation strategies and recommendations based on structural condition.
Oversee structural design work and ensure technically sound project outcomes.
Take responsibility for the successful execution of assigned projects.
Attend client engagements and provide professional engineering advice.
Conduct site-based investigations and inspections.
Guide and develop junior and intermediate members of the engineering team.
Review technical work and contribute to maintaining engineering standards.
Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and project teams.
Requirements:
BEng/BSc or equivalent NQF Level 8 qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering.
At least 10 years’ professional structural engineering experience.
Demonstrated experience across structural design, inspections/assessments and project execution.
Strong background in structural rehabilitation and remaining-life evaluations.
ECSA Pr Eng registration would be advantageous.
Engineers who are actively working towards Pr Eng registration may also be considered.
Confident dealing directly with clients and other project stakeholders.
Valid driver’s licence and access to own vehicle.
Comfortable travelling between the office and mine/project sites as required.
