    Senior Scientist, Country Medical Affairs

    About

    The key focus of this role is to support the deliver of medical excellence within the South, Southern, East and West Africa regional Medical Affairs organisation, delivering business results and ensuring effective deployment of Medical Governance frameworks across the GSK Consumer Health business. You will support the Regional Medical Affairs lead in driving efficiencies and effectiveness of the Medical Affairs community, while building collaborative relationships with various business functions to drive and implement successful product strategies. This will include engagement with partners in regional R&D, Global Category Leads, Regional Commercial Leads and Operations Director, Safety, Legal, Corporate Compliance functions and more, ensuring each is supported from a Medical Affairs perspective and is therefore able to perform optimally.

    This will offer you fantastic exposure across the business and the opportunity to develop a broad and involved network across the region. Due to the scope of the Medical Affairs organisation, there are also considerable growth opportunities within this business area.

    Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

    • Enhancing the global Medical Community operating model to drive results for GSK Consumer Health, through implementing process improvement plans which enhance efficiency, quality and overall performance
    • Supporting various business areas with Medical Affairs expertise in order to drive medical communication and publication strategies across all relevant product portfolios
    • Interfacing with external organisations on behalf of GSK, including Health Authorities, Healthcare Organizations, KOL’s and External Experts etc.
    • Supporting varied Medical Affairs activities including input:
    • Input to medical concepts, ethics and consumer safety
    • Development of accurate, technically supported and appealing claims
    • Data collection and analysis of GSK products and competitors
    • Review and approval of promotional materials
    • Provide medical input to regulatory applications, new product development, clinical activities, business development and acquisition initiatives
    • Providing medical and technical training of regional LOC’s about GSK products and competitors
    • Acting as a GSK voice in interaction with consumers, physicians, medical societies, institutions and government bodies

You will be able to multitask whilst also handling and negotiating expectations from demanding stakeholders, requiring fantastic communication and influencing skills. You will need to facilitate alignment of colleagues and external parties to collaborate across groups and regions, so the ability to manage and influence others is essential. You will work under pressure, expected to make difficult but informed decisions and to response effectively under tight timelines. Therefore, organisational abilities, quick thinking and a calm-under-pressure approach will be valued.     Why You?
    Required Qualifications And Experience

    • Degree qualified in Medical or Biomedical Sciences
    • 3 years hands on experience in Medical Affairs
    • Experience in the Pharma, OTC, Dental and/or Nutritional industries
    • Multi-discipline knowledge of the operations, project management or other functions connected to Global Medical Affairs
    • Demonstrated business acumen
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Strong computer literacy including competent in Microsoft Office software

    Additional Skills

    • Additional and higher-level qualifications/training are beneficial
    • Some knowledge of the Clinical Development Process
    • Strong project management experience
    • Experience of Regulatory and Quality processes as applied to Pharma
    • Knowledge of Pharmacovigilance
