RPO Recruitment's client, an established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Irene-based team. The role is suited to an experienced structural professional who can take responsibility for technically complex projects and provide sound engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on structural design, assessment and rehabilitation assignments, with particular exposure to mining-related infrastructure and existing-structure evaluations. The position will also involve regular interaction with project teams and travel to client and mine sites when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead structural engineering assignments from initial assessment through to design and implementation.
Develop practical solutions for the repair, strengthening and rehabilitation of existing structures.
Carry out structural investigations and evaluate the condition and serviceability of existing assets.
Undertake remaining-life evaluations and provide recommendations to clients.
Review and oversee engineering calculations, designs and technical documentation.
Provide technical direction to junior and intermediate engineers.
Participate in client meetings and provide professional engineering advice.
Coordinate structural requirements with other disciplines and project stakeholders.
Provide engineering support during construction and site activities.
Maintain responsibility for the technical quality and successful delivery of assigned projects.
Requirements:
BEng/BSc or equivalent NQF Level 8 qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
10+ years’ experience in structural engineering.
Proven exposure to structural design, condition assessment, rehabilitation and project delivery.
Experience with remaining-life assessments would be advantageous.
Previous exposure to the mining sector will be highly beneficial.
ECSA Pr Eng registration is advantageous, although engineers working towards professional registration will also be considered.
Strong technical judgement and the ability to take ownership of engineering deliverables.
Willingness to travel to project and mine sites as required.
