Senior Supply Chain Manager - Johannesburg at Smith+Nephew

What will you be doing?

• The role forms part of the Supply Chain Division and is responsible for the planning, leading, organization, and control of the entire Supply Chain and Customer Services operations within Southern Africa, in line with targets and objectives set out from time to time.
• This role requires a strong leader who builds a motivated team of supply chain professionals to deliver business excellence across the supply chain, enterprise wide.

What will you need to be successful?

• Experience with end-to-end supply chain activities in the country, including last mile logistics and associated statutory, regulatory and technology requirements to execute on business goals.
• Lead the Sales and operations planning process for the region.  Implement regional supply chain strategies and best practices and improve overall performance metrics across the value chain.
• Experienced in working closely with the Sales & Marketing and commercial functions to improve customer collaboration and develop solutions to access real-time information with a view to fundamentally improving our service experience in the marketplace.
• Managing and optimizing the supply chain financial investments in - Operational expense, Technology, Fixed assets, Inventory & infrastructure footprint in the region.
• Experience in providing supply chain leadership to cross-functional teams and leading project teams.
• Develop and optimize the structure within the Supply Chain and Customer Services areas to match business strategy.
• Develop and optimize Supply chain processes in line with best practice models such as Lean.
• Ensure Systems and technology are sourced and maintained as strategic business enablers.
• Part of and contributor to the Exco management team and jointly responsible for general business governance and management

Successful candidates would need the following:

• Supply Chain Degree.
• A minimum 5-10 years of related supply chain management experience
• The ability to understand the entire process ’from supplier’s supplier to customer’s customer.
• The understanding of integrated supply chain and logistic concepts
• The ability to communicate supply chain objectives clearly and convey the benefits to the organization
• Knowledgeable in planning and forecasting processes and experienced in implementing Planning/Forecasting process and systems.
• Previous experience in the Medical Devices Industry would be preferred.
