    Sensory Specialist Operations

    Purpose Of Position

    • Implement, monitor and maintain an operational (used in production) sensory assurance platform through training, proficiency and best practice guidelines in support of product quality for the entire Distell portfolio of products.


    Key performance areas will include, but not be limited to:

    Responsible For The Operational Sensory Assurance Program Through

    • Establish and design the sensory assurance platform for manufacturing and operations (Supply Chain)
    • Provide project design and phased implementation structure/plan for company-wide quality assurance and control
    • Ensure competent supply chain technical tasting panels globally, by identifying and addressing training needs as required by the company strategy
    • Creation and maintenance of relevant Technical information systems to support the sensory assurance platform
    • Create sensory product quality standards for identified brands according to consumer and management requirements to direct the sensory assurance program
    • Provide sensory support to selected operational excellence projects outside of BAU
    • Influence and guide manufacturing stakeholders involved in the sensory assurance platform
    • Train and mentor the designated site sensory professionals (Taste technician or site panel leader)
    • Execute technical sensory audits and ensure GAP closure
    • Assist the Quality and COE intrinsic teams in troubleshooting sensory issues

    The successful candidate must preferably have the following qualifications, experience and skills:

    • A minimum qualification of an MSc in Food Science (Sensory Science) OR an MSc in Wine biotechnology with specific focus in Sensory Research with a minimum of 5 years relevant (sensory panel facilitation and training) and functional business experience in food, beverage or a similar industry
    • Demonstrated proficiency in providing sensory training, sensory assurance procedures and practices and monitoring panel performance
    • Proficiency in MS Office, Compusense® Cloud, PanelCHECK and XLStat software
    • Statistical analysis skills with ability to interpret and report panel performance monitoring data and project results
    • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and people
    • Good interpersonal and written/ oral communication skills
    • Ability to influence and motivate large groups
