    Service Engineer- GCC Factories - 1 year fixed term contract

    The Job

    You will be working as a Service Engineer- GCC Factories and will be the part of Industrial Automation Business area for Energy Industries Division based in Prieska and De Aar, South Africa. In this role, you will be reporting to the Service Manager and will be responsible to executing medium to high complex service work according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. Deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers, in close co-operation with customer and other ABB teams to take actions for identify new service business opportunities for ABB.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Service delivery: Performing medium to high complex service tasks like installation , commissioning, maintenance, upgrades and retrofits, repair independently, identifying technical problems and makes analysis through remote or on-site activity in different service categories (installation and commissioning, maintenance, extensions, replacements, upgrades and retrofit, end of life service etc.).
    • Customer approach: Ensuring customer satisfaction by executing service work according to customer order and expectation. Creating and maintaining a good relationship with customers and understanding their needs. Identifying new sales opportunities and takes influence in convincing the client for the complete service portfolio.
    • Materials and supply: Coordinating, preparing and ensuring that all materials, parts and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for service activities. Preparing standard lists for ease of work.
    • Documentation and reports: Leading the effort to document the implicit service knowledge in a knowledge management system.
    • Troubleshooting: Identifying potential equipment failures and proactive corrective actions. Troubleshooting complex equipment failure and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.
    • Operational excellence: Identifying suggestions for product, quality and customer service improvement and discusses them with management for changes.
    • Safety and Integrity: Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

    Your background

    • GCC Factories- as a legal requirement/ ORHVS certification is advantageous.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance for PV/Solar Plant.
    • Candidate must be based in Northern Cape specifically Prieska and De Aar.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence both internally and externally.
