    SHEQ Officer - Fordia

    Main Responsibilities or Function of Position

    • Develop and Implement SHEQ Policies, procedures and guidelines in line with legal requirements, including the OHSACT 85 of 1993, NEMA and all other related Legal compliance legislation.
    • Assist with implementation and/or maintenance of an integrated certified management system (IMS) that fulfils the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 standards for ZSF Head Office
    • Assist and promote the quality, health, safety and environmental functions in a manner that protects both entities, employees, customer and assets against losses, injuries, and accidents by the development and enforcement of safe work practices / programs.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, noncompliance issues and improvement opportunities, ensuring adherence to the OHSACT as well as MHSA, as applicable.
    • Assist with implementation and maintenance of hazard / aspect and risk / impact awareness program / campaign in terms of legislation, Epiroc Way and Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
    • Implement, coordinate and control SHEQ internal and/or external audit processes for ZSF Product company and report the performance of these audits to the Line Management monthly and/or as required.
    • Champion a safety-first culture by promoting employee engagement, involvement, and ownership of SHEQ initiatives and practises, emphasizing the importance of achieving ZSF Product Company (PC) targets of zero accidents, incidents and property damage and encouraging the reporting of near misses and hazardous activities.
    • Assist with the reporting and controlling of accurate record keeping relating to SHEQ statistics and participate on incident investigations as and when required for ZSF PC and other areas of responsibilities, as applicable.
    • Participate in daily / weekly / monthly SHEQ or other meetings and report any SHEQ statistics as required for ZSF PC and other areas under your areas of responsibility.
    • Ensure that Group and Local SHEQ Objectives and Targets for Fordia are rolled out and effectively implement at areas of responsibilities
    • Assist and advise with necessary SHEQ Training Needs for Fordia Product Company to ensure compliance with all statutory and other requirements (i.e., Legal appointments, Driven machinery, Lifting equipment, etc.)
    • Ensure that the Chemical Handling Database, using Chemwatch is up to date for Fordia PC including conducting risk assessments and get approval for all new chemicals required on site as well as custo0mer sites and branches.
    • Primary responsible for Coordination and Control of Hazardous Waste Facility operations and services at the Fordia Product Company, liaising with on -site service providers to minimise the impact of our Operational activities on the Environment, and complying to all relevant legislation applicable.
    • Liase with regulatory bodies, ensuring all permits, licences and certifications are up to date and in compliance with legal and other requirements, including those specified in our national and provincial legislation.
    • In line with the above - will carry out any other function or duty as may be required in terms of "The Epiroc Way "and SHEQ operational Activities (e.g., Activities, products and services).

    Experience and educational requierments

    • Recognised SHEQ Qualifications at a Tertiary NQF Level, i.e National Diploma or equivalent and/or Nebosch International Qualification
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience in SHEQ Management within the mining or heavy industries, preferably within an OEM Environment.
    • Familiarity and Experience in a with a Manufacturing environment would be an added benefit for this position.
    • Strong ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Implementation and internal auditing experience will be a definite advantage.
    • Meticulous work ethic, attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as problem solving abilities will be positive attributes to have.
    • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications require.
    • Good communication skills and ability to train and motivate people.
    • Ideal candidate should show initiative and persistence in achieving desired KPI's
    • Strong Organisational skills.
    • Strong Communication skills that can communicate through all levels of the organisation and with all stakeholders, to ensure buy-in, participation and foster positive working relationships in our Organisation.
    • Must be willing to travel, as Operational requirements would demand .
    • Team player with good collaboration skills.
    • Good time keeping and time management skills and conscientious with the time required to get tasks completed.
