Specialist - Strategic Network Planning at Vodacom

Role purpose:

• The Specialist Strategic Planning is responsible for all strategic planning activities within the radio domain as well as special planning projects and scenarios i.e. Seasonal Peak Traffic planning, Rollout planning, Radio Budget planning, New products and services impact to network modelling etc.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct traffic impact studies to model the effect of new services on network infrastructure
• Coordination of radio network planning from a Capacity and Coverage perspective.
• Coordination of all network planning with a view to linking budget to growth projections and facilitating harmonious expansion of all network elements in a synchronised manner.
• Investigations regarding the relationship between revenue and network traffic, with a view towards maximising the profitability of proposed new sites, enhancements and upgrades in network infrastructure.
• Radio Planning Strategy and guideline documents with regards to new radio technologies, the theoretical impacts, capacities etc.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• A 4-year Electrical Engineering diploma/degree with 5 years of relevant experience
• OR
• A 3-year Electrical Engineering diploma/degree PLUS a recognized industry certificate with 5 years relevant experience.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

• Specialist knowledge of dimensioning GSM, UMTS, LTE and 5G Access networks;
• Specialist knowledge of Radio Planning & Optimisation
• At least 5 years’ experience in Statistical Performance Management & Traffic Monitoring in the Telecommunications
• At least 5 years’ experience in GIS systems and Tools
• At least 5 years’ experience in SQL, script development or other large dataset manipulation methods
