    Supply Scheduler - Inland

    The primary purpose of the role is to ensure safe, reliable and continuous supply of fuel products into the Inland Depots where Astron customers are supplied either via secondary distribution or customer own collection in a most efficient and economical manner. The Inland Schedulers are also responsible for primary supply of volume for the Botswana market. The scope of the role covers all main fuels (Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene). The depots covered are 7 in Total with some Owned and Operated and Some JV and non-operated. The mode of product is mostly pipeline deliveries and some road for bridging.

    Working closely with the National Supply Operations Coordinator (NSOC), the Inland Schedulers (DIS) are responsible for executing and operationalising the AOP plan for delivery of products in that corridor via imports, cross pumps and injection into the pipeline at the lowest possible cost to the business safely at all times. The DIS will deliver these duties through the following:

    • Translate Area Operations Plan (AOP) into a detailed 4 week lifting plan for designated area with minimal deviation following a well detailed Supply Logistics Plan as an output of the AOP with particular focus to delivering products to Astron depots at the optimal value to the business
    • Update the Supply monitoring tool (SAP) and the various Stock management systems with the plan
    • Utilise the Transnet Portal to order pipeline injections and deliveries with consultation with the competitors and adhere to contractual volumes
    • Utilise buy/sell contractual tolerances to Astron’s advantage to leverage opportunities to keep the Astron Inland market wet
    •  Manage the Astron stock movements at the depots by managing complex and sometimes conflicting requirements between Depot Managers, Sales (All Channels) and Suppliers (Other Oil Companies)
    • Have the ability and the acumen to act swiftly in a situation where there is a risk to a stock position at a depot by either one of above stakeholders.
    • Manage and own relationships with the JV partner’s Schedulers in all our Inland JV depots, ensuring seamless scheduling and operations of volumes between the parties in and out of the JV depots
    • As part of the stakeholder relationship management continue to strengthen the relationships with Transnet Pipeline Planning and Operations team, Road Hauler contractors in order to always gain the best value for Astron
    •  Communicate daily, weekly with Sales, T&O Fleet and Depot Managers on issues of product movements in and out of the depots
    • Optimise the product moves into the depots while balancing Inventory targets to minimise potential working capital costs to the business
    • Participate in the weekly Short Term Planning meeting in order to re-optimise the 4 weekly on a weekly basis
    • During the unplanned shutdown or interruptions of pipeline movements either by pipeline disruptions or Unplanned Competitor Refinery shutdown, leverage on the relationships to implement hustle strategy to find alternative supply points on a short notice to meet Astron’s market requirements
    • Galvanise and implement immediate communication protocol to the necessary internal stakeholders when the potential product supply disruptions
    • On a monthly basis work with TPL to reconcile the volumes due to Astron and work with the Internal team report to Finance

    Professional Qualification and Certifications: B Degree/ National Diploma

    Work Experience: more than 5 years experience in the Industry
