Systems Engineer

You will own and drive the systems supporting the network and related connectivity and availability. You will work closely with team members and customers to provide the best, technically sound experience. This role translates business requirements into technical solutions and supports the Broadcast platform teams. In this 24X7 operational, role standby duties are performed with some travel as required. You are expected to understand applications and infrastructure to be able to interact with vendors, partners and stakeholders to provide cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities
(Products, services, programs and information which the individual must provide to external individuals or groups, in order to accomplish the organisation’s promise and strategy)

• Reporting – network incidents and availability
• Documentation: schematics and SOP’s
• System Administration – monitoring applications configuration and maintenance
• System upgrades
• Software deployment
• Server Administration – Microsoft and/or Linux
• Video Entertainment Services Platform – configuration and support of content delivery systems
• Maintenance of system security
• Nimbra network management and support
• Vulnerability/Patch management
• Antivirus and IDS administration
• Standby duties

 

Who We Are Looking For

• Pay-TV/Broadcast Industry knowledge
• Knowledge of IP networks (Switching, Routing and multicasting)
• Knowledge of network and information security and best practice
• Knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies
• Experience in trouble-shooting and diagnosis of network issues
• Knowledge of VSAT and Telemetry systems an advantage
• Experience in audio/video transport technologies
• Ability to function effectively under adverse conditions

Required Skills

• IT Degree or Diploma
• Networking – N+/CCNA an advantage
• NetInsight Nimbra Training and operational experience preferred
• Min 5 years’ experience in systems environment
• Microsoft Server Administration
• Knowledge of VSAT and Telemetry Systems an advantage
