    Tax Consultant

    Purpose of the Job:

    • To be proactive in all aspects of tax consulting and compliance

    Key job duties or responsibilities:

    •  Involvement in consulting and advising clients on a wide range of individual tax and employees’ tax issues – both in relation to local and expatriate individuals
    •  Preparation and/or first review of tax calculations and tax returns on behalf of clients
    •  Assisting on expatriate payroll engagements where required
    •  Assisting on local payroll employees’ tax reviews and audits
    •  Participating as a member of engagement teams to deliver tax compliance and consulting services to global expat populations authorised for services and employers
    •  Producing accurate work to a high technical standard, including preparation of calculations, drafting opinions and reports
    •  Interpretation and application of theoretical knowledge and practical experience
    •  Prioritisation of workload and meeting required deadlines
    •  Contribute effectively to the discussions around work and actively participate in generating creative ideas and thoughts
    •  Adapt to a changing work environment and accommodate changing client demands
    •  Facilitate teamwork by sharing knowledge with others on a regular basis and actively asking questions in order to achieve personal and work goals
    •  Assisting managers with drafting of billing and monthly financial reporting
    •  Keeping accurate record of time spent on tasks

    Qualifications and experience
     
     BCom Accounting or BCom Law, LLB

    •  HDip (Tax) or similar
    •  A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Expatriate Tax and Employees’ Tax
    •  Current SAIT or other Regulatory Controlling Body membership and active SARS Tax Practitioner registration
    •  SQL and/or data analytics qualifications and/or experience will be beneficial
    •  Active payroll (in particular, PaySpace) and/ SARS e@syfile experience will be beneficial

    Critical Interpersonal or Interactive skills

    •  Numerically strong
    •  Good opinion / report writing skills
    •  Drive and enthusiasm
    •  Sound technical ability and knowledge
    •  Good working knowledge of SARS eFiling
    •  Good interpersonal skills
    •  Good presentation skills
    •  Able to communicate at and with all levels
    •  Effective time management and prioritisation skills
    •  Able to deliver to tight time scales
    •  Able to adapt to different working environments
    •  Actively participate in the performance development and growth of oneself and others by giving honest and open feedback to all colleagues.
