Technical Manager - Springbok at Minopex

• This role is a technical expert responsible for the planning, management, and supervision of engineering processes at sites, to ensure that projects targets are completed on time and within budget. They ensure that these engineering processes are conducted in a safe manner.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

•  Maintain, drive, supervise and implement robust technical standards, systems and processes.
•  Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with relevant legislative specifications and standards.
•  Manage scope throughout different projects duration and maintain accurate project estimates, timelines, project plans, status reports.
•  Understands, tracks and articulates issues / risks / action items; work with responsible owners to address the items on a timely basis; update the appropriate stakeholders as needed.
•  Coordinate the regular quality testing of products/equipment to address faults and provide evaluations in order to improve them.
•  Act as a key contact with clients who have technical issues.
•  Provide process improvement recommendations based on best practices and engineering standards.
•  Resolve conflicts by demonstrating leadership and appropriate decision-making competencies.
•  Liaise with other departments and supervise employees on all sites of the region.
•  Manage company costs by monitoring the regional procurement process through progressive liaison with procurement and finance departments

Qualification Requirements:

•  Grade 12.
•  Engineering related diploma or degree.
•  Supervisor/foreman certificate.
•  The Management Development Program (MDP) certificate will be advantageous.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

•  5 to 7 years’ experience as a technical manager or project manager in the mining industry
•  Demonstrated ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, project management.
•  Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management and organizational skills.
•  Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills and ability to achieve results independently.
•  Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work.
•  Experience working with quality management approaches, techniques, and principles to ensure quality.
•  Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present a polished, professional, and diplomatic image to all stakeholders.
•  Must have ability to quickly identify and drive to the optimal solution when presented with a series of constraints.
•  Problem solving skills, analytical skills, and the ability to make decisions quickly.
•  Knowledge of engineering process improvement.
•  Knowledge of mining regulatory standards.
•  The ability to investigate and identify technical engineering trends.
•  General artisanry technical skills.
