    Technician Maintenance Planner

    Based in Rosslyn, South Africa in one of the biggest manufacturing plants in the region and under the supervision of the Associate Manager, Site Engineering, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal availability and performance of the unit by developing all maintenance schedules, planning and scheduling resources required for execution. You will also be responsible for ensuring proper execution of all planned and corrective maintenance work as well as for the daily, weekly and monthly reporting, ensuring good filing practices are followed for record keeping purposes.

    Essential Duties And Responsibilities

    • Annual, quarterly, weekly and daily maintenance plans executed on time in full (OTIF). Plans include: Preventive Maintenance; Corrective maintenance; Mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance
    • Adherence to schedule for Statutory compliance as per Masher SHE Tracker
    • Work levelled to ensure no peaks and dips in activity
    • Planned maintenance stoppages agreed with production planner (co-ordinate maintenance down time with production times)
    • Job cards issued to specific technicians for specific times to conduct planned maintenance activities as per schedule
    • Work allocated to each technician (hours) within specification and matching the skills levels of the technicians to whom it is allocated
    • Overtime or outside contractors authorized by maintenance manager
    • All work completed on site is captured on a job card (planned & breakdown)
    • Stores informed of spares, tools and materials required ahead of time in order to execute planned maintenance effectively
    • Periodic checks conducted on all maintenance activities
    • Standard engineering practices developed, documented & implemented.
    • Corrective action taken where work is not conducted according to plan IE raised with maintenance foreman
    • Coaching provided to technicians where necessary
    • Ensure job cards checked for completion, signed off & captured in SAP
    • All maintenance activities in the unit supported (including assisting & allocating resources for breakdown activities to ensure quality workmanship on all maintenance work)
    • Weekly and monthly maintenance KPI reports generated, analyzed and corrective action taken
    • Inappropriate maintenance activities identified
    • Recommendations made to maintenance team in order to improve maintenance system
    • Maintenance schedules reviewed periodically and updated
    • Preventive maintenance plans continuously improved and revised
    • Maintenance KPI’s reviewed and corrective action taken where necessary

    Educational Qualifications

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES:

    • Tertiary Qualification (Required)
    • National Higher Diploma (N5/6) or equivalent from a technical training college (Desired)
    • Trade tested artisan or technician (mechanical or electrical - Desired).

    Essential Experience And Skills

    • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience including supervision and at least 2 years’ experience in maintenance planning
    • Previous experience with TPM & specifically PM pillar
    • Development of maintenance plans and in depth knowledge of preventive maintenance planning process
    • Previous experience working with SAP PM Module:
    • Understand FLOC structures
    • Work order management - Generation of monthly SAP reports
    • Generation of maintenance plans
    • Detailed work scheduling
    • Advanced Excel – generation of reports etc.
    • Behavioral Skills:
    • Manage for results
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Strong communication skills – both written and orally. Ability to present reports to executive committees when requested and discussing issues with plant personnel
    • Very strong skills of influence
    • Team player and ability to get on with a broad spectrum of people
