Tier 1 Systems Engineer at IPT Holdings

What You’ll Do

As a Tier 1 Systems Engineer, you will:

• Provide first-line support across all IT services, including user devices, applications, and networking.
• Perform system administration tasks, including user management, software installations, and system configurations.
• Monitor and maintain client infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime and performance.
• Handle day-to-day IT support requests, resolving technical issues efficiently and professionally.
• Collaborate with Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineers to escalate and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Maintain clear and detailed documentation of issues, solutions, and client interactions.
• Monitor IT systems and proactively address potential issues to minimise downtime.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and desktop operating systems.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Basic cloud fundamentals and familiarity with Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Active Directory, group policies, user management, and domain controller administration.
• Proficiency in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
• Basic security practices to ensure system integrity.

Soft Skills and Attributes:

• Strong customer service skills, with experience providing technical support to end-users.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, resolve user incidents, and manage support tickets.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks effectively, and adapt to changing demands.
• A proactive and detail-oriented approach in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Certifications:

• Senior Certificate.
• CompTIA A+ & N+.
• Valid South African driver's license, as the role requires independent travel between client sites.
