    Unlisted Equity Investment Analyst – Infra Impact Mid-Market Infrastructure Fund 1 – Cape Town, South Africa

    Infra Impact Investment Managers is seeking to appoint an experienced unlisted investment analyst/ senior analyst with ambitions to develop into an investment principal role over the next two to three years.

    Responsibilities

    1. Stay abreast of industry and / or sector developments
    2. Assist members of the Investment team in the analysis and evaluation of transactions, including financial modelling, due diligence, writing reports/submissions to Investment Committee, reviewing reports to Investment Committee, post-investment monitoring activities, etc.
    3. Lead the negotiation with Target companies on transactions.
    4. Together with the Investments teams, help monitor the Investment Strategy target sectors, the participants, sponsors with a view to tracking current and future investment opportunities and understanding market risk profile.
    5. Provide analysis as required of the above markets to support Investment Committee papers and external presentations.
    6. Prepare and / or review complex financial models and perform detailed financial analysis.
    7. Perform financial valuation: discounted cash flow, multiples-based and other relevant financial analyses.
    8. Review of legal agreements (Transaction Documents) for all new deals.
    9. Prepare and maintain power point slides for internal and external presentations.
    10. Prepare and present at Investment Committee meetings.
    11. Sourcing/securing potential investment opportunities aligned with the Fund’s investment objectives and help maintain a healthy pipeline.
    12. Track market developments/press coverage and provide regular summary reports.
    13. Develop and maintain relationships with sector bodies, government departments / agencies as necessary to secure high quality, timely information.
    14. Reporting: operational and business reporting / financial performance monitoring; preparation of key management information/ performance indicators
    15. Assisting with ad hoc duties as required by or assigned by Management.

    PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT FUNCTION

    Responsibilities

    1. Monitor key investment performance data from existing investments in the sectors.
    2. Information management: ensuring all key information from investees are obtained, and properly maintained (e.g., management accounts, finance reports and operational reports, board materials, budgets, business plans);
    3. Reporting: operational and business reporting / financial performance monitoring; preparation of key management information / performance indicators
    4. Reporting: Portfolio Impact and Environmental, Social and Governance aspects
    5. Financial and risk analysis of individual investments and portfolio’s valuation, returns and cash yield, analysis of performance against investment case and budget, tracking of key risks
    6. Engaging with the Fund’s independent valuation agent, administrators and auditors
    7. Assisting in liquidity management (short-term cash flow modelling and management) and transaction documentation compliance (incl. on fees / costs / expenses);
    8. Engage and work effectively with the external technical/legal/financial and other advisors, maintain databases of facilities, projects and pricing trends relating to the sectors.
    9. Investor engagement and handling specific investor reporting requirements and requests
    10. Effectively represent the Fund’s interests in investee companies.
    11. Assist in the portfolio exposure monitoring
    12. Ensure that all investments’ legal compliance must be in order and escalate non-compliance
    13. Record all securities required as per legal agreements and registered by the Fund (securities register). Safeguard original documents if required.
    14. Record (new) signed or notarised copies of legal agreements of transactions. i.e. ensure that what should be there is there.
    15. Follow-up on investees with the registration of notarial bonds and other security requirements (ensure completion of process).
    16. Maintain an Investment Calendar to track and alert of significant investee events (e.g. board meetings, loan payments, undertakings etc.)
    17. General operational and administrative support as and when required.

    Key Required Experience

    Proven track record of leading transactions in the unlisted/private markets sector including:

    1. Assessing opportunities for investment fit
    2. Leading or playing a key role in the DD process
    3. Managing external service providers such as legal and technical advisors
    4. Negotiating key investment terms and translating these into agreements
    5. Preparing reports and leading Investment Committees through the merits and risks identified in transactions
    6. Financial modelling experience
    7. A blend of equity and credit experience preferred with exposure to infrastructure investments and/ or private equity transactions

    9. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

    The unlisted investment team consists of a core team responsible for originating and executing investments, as well as ongoing commercial management of the assets.
