Proven track record of successful Environmental Management initiatives
Experience of grant funding management
Proven experience in waste management operations
Valid Code EB Driving License
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Supervise and ensure effective and efficient waste collection and disposal functions
Procurement of tools and equipment for the section
Ensure implementation of SDBIP and budget allocated to the section
Provide support to external stakeholders in environmental and waste management function
Monitor and report on performance of service providers contracted with the department and ensure value for money.
Reporting on specific waste collection and disposal procedures from the immediate superior and implement adjustments accordingly
Provide guidance and guidelines for personnel on the application of procedures
Supervising the efficient transportation of waste without contaminating air, land or water sources
Monitor the quality of and performance of the waste services including contracts management of external providers
Promoting sustainable waste management practices by conducting waste management education programmes, workshops and information campaigns
Researching and evaluating proper processes to be followed with regards to disposal of hazardous waste materials
Co-ordinate the establishment of environmental management forums within the municipality.
