Wet Utilities Engineer ( Cape Town, Tshwane) at Zutari

Role Specific Skills:

• Strong infrastructure engineering background with previous experience in infrastructure projects
• Working on the delivery of multidisciplinary projects, with technical inputs from numerous disciplines, including transport, energy, sustainability, and building engineers
• Preparing designs, drawings, technical reports, specifications, and schedules.
• Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects, collaborate with other disciplines as well as having excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to quickly adapt to and implement various countries’ and regions’ design standards, with main focus on the Middle East.
• Design gravity and pressure networks for masterplan, transportation and highway projects
• Design right of way cross sections for all utilities
• Produce reports, 3D models, drawing markups, calculations and presentations
• Effectively communicate design intent to drafters and modellers to produce design deliverables.
• Coordinate with local authority liaisons to obtain approvals
• Use hydraulic design software, such as the Innovyze or Bentley hydraulic software suites, to analyse and design pressure and gravity networks.
• Flexibility in using various software packages will be an advantage
• Use Autodesk Civil 3D primarily for the design and modelling of wet utility infrastructure such as pipelines, trenches, ponds, etc.
• Introductory knowledge of Autodesk Revit will be an advantage
• Interface with the wider Zutari infrastructure and MEP teams, architects, master planners, stakeholder

Qualifications and Experience: 

• BEng / BSc (Hon) in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline with minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience.
• Although not essential, a MEng / MSc degree would be advantageous.
• Candidate member of an associated Professional body
• Experience and proven ability to assist in delivering projects and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
• Experience of MS Office Suite of Programmes, SharePoint, ProjectWise, etc.
• Experience in technical design and associated discipline software.
